Ferdinands Sloe Quince Gin is made of the same 30 botanicals and infused with Saar Riesling grapes as their Dry Gin. This one, however, has a special flavour added: fresh quinces picked from right on the property. It has a wonderful flavour range that is perfect for standalone drinking or mixology. Over 30 botanicals are used for their amazing flavours. These include: sloe, rose hip, sour orange, licorice, juniper, angelica, lemon, fennel, hop, lime, passion flower, eglantine, bergamot, lavender, elderflower, almond, cardamom, jasmine, red vineyard peach, coriander, citrus thyme, sandalwood, chamomile, ginger, apple mint, Rubinette apple, cinnamon, quince, pepper, balm, and nutmeg. These are infused with Saar Riesling grapes. Add to this the wonderful, fresh quince and you get a truly unique and powerful flavour combination. Ferdinands Saar Dry Gin got its name from the Royal Prussian District Forester Ferdinand Geltz. He was the co-founder of the VDP Mosel-Saar-Ruwer Zilliken estate, one of Germany's finest vineyards. The Riesling grapes used in its making are picked from the steep shale slopes of the estate, and give this gin a unique taste. All the botanicals used in making this gin are hand-picked, with quince trees growing directly behind the distillery itself. The Vallendar family has been distilling since 1824, with their Master Distiller Andreas Vallendar guaranteeing an "exquisite drinking pleasure".

Tasting Notes

Nose: Fragrant lavender and lemongrass, with quince carrying through in a nice sweetness.

Palate: Forefront is citrus (lemon and lime) and quince. A wonderful flavour. Juniper carries through but is not overpowering, along with the thyme. The quince really gives this gin something special. 

Finish: A long, full finish with fruit and citrus. 

Serving Suggestion: Perfect for sipping alone. Can be used in mixology.
