This type of agave is indigenous to the basin of the Balsas River, nestled in the towering mountains of Guerrero state in the southern regions of Mexico. This variety naturally proliferates on the mineral-rich slopes, optimal for mineral absorption, bestowing upon it a distinctive taste. This agave reaches maturity between 12 to 18 years, allowing for an excellent concentration of natural sugars and minerals in its core.
