Portofino Dry Gin is an artisanal gin created with a passion for Portofino, its effortless beauty and glamorous history. Our mission is to share the village’s hidden charms with the world alongside its traditions, ensuring that with every sip the magical feeling of strolling down the “Piazzetta” stays with you – wherever you are.

Tribute to a Portofinese Icon

Our company was founded in homage to Klaus Pudel, the grandfather of Portofino Dry Gin’s cofounder Ruggero. Klaus was a man much admired for having saved Portofino from destruction during the Second World War; later in the 1950s and ’60s he played host to some of the most wonderful parties in the era of ‘La Dolce Vita.’ His love of the Italian Riviera has been conveyed through the generations, and we created our gin as a tribute to Klaus - a playful spirit with an unmistakable Mediterranean character.

Botanical Sanctuary

Nestled on the Ligurian coast, the picturesque fishermen’s village of Portofino is clustered around a small harbour, where colourfully painted buildings line the turquoise shore. The region’s unique microclimate allows a lush Mediterranean vegetation to grow all year-round. Portofino Dry Gin features 21 botanicals, each one carefully selected for its natural aromatic properties. Lemons, lavender, rosemary, marjoram, sage, iris and rose are organically grown in our botanical sanctuary on the hills of Portofino and combined with locally handpicked ingredients to complete our gin’s secret recipe.

TASTING JOURNEY

Combining carefully picked botanicals, our gin takes you on an unforgettable journey along the Mediterranean coast. Portofino Dry Gin’s initial notes are fresh lemon and crisp juniper that transport you to the hills of Portofino. These give way to a universe of Mediterranean flavours: from the wild rosemary and lavender perfumes of the coastal scrub to the sweet and delicate notes of marjoram and sage that evoke the taste of traditional Ligurian cuisine.

DISTILLATION PROCESS

Produced at an antique Italian distillery located a short distance from our estate, each batch of Portofino Dry Gin is made using a combination of traditional and innovative methods: from an old Italian copper pot still used to distil local liqueur and grappa to a state-of-the-art technology that produces vacuum distillation, preserving the aromas from our most delicate botanicals.
Our gin is distilled and bottled in Italy using natural ingredients, we do not add sugar, artificial flavours or preservatives. Alc./Vol. 43% - 86 Proof.

AWARDS

Portofino Dry Gin not only has a great heritage and a beautiful bottle – it’s delicious too. To prove it, we submitted our gin to renown competitions from around the world and were selected through rigorous blind tasting processes conducted by panels of distinguished gin experts, distillers, retailers and mixologists.
