It was to this visionary gardener and distinguished botanist – born in 1624 in Charente – that Louis XIV entrusted the task of creating the vegetable and botanic gardens of the Château de Versailles.
Nearly four centuries later, his bronze statue still looks over the masterpiece he bestowed to us: the famous Potager du Roy.
With shared values of excellence and a spirit of innovation, we have chosen to pay tribute to this emblematic Charentais figure by gracing the elegant bottle of La Quintinye Vermouth Royal with a full-length portrait of Jean Baptiste de La Quintinye in front of his gardens.
Surrounding the royal fleur de lys emblem, the label is embellished with botanical drawings in the typical style of sixteenth-century plates. There is Armoise, an essential component in Vermouth, our house signature Fleur de Vigne, and Iris and Angelica roots which are characteristic plants of the Charente region.
