The company was established in 1999 by Yang Teng-Kuei, who decided to launch his own Scotch whisky brand after spending more than 40 years building a vast media, television and entertainment empire.

Matisse has grown to become one of the best-selling brands in the lucrative Taiwanese spirits sector and also performs well in China, Thailand, Singapore, Australia and the USA. During recent years the company’s whiskies have also appeared in European markets.
