Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky (700 ml)

The Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky Sherry Cask is a boutique Japanese whisky produced by the Matsui distillery. Located in Tottori, a coastal prefecture on southern Honshu, the whiskies produced by the Matsui distillery are characterised by ageing with the pure underground waters of Daisen Mountains. The sweet fruit and chocolate aroma displayed by this Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky is generated by allowing it to age in sherry casks for more than 3 years. A balance of sweetness and acidity spreads all over the mouth when enjoying this elegant Japanese whisky.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Brown, golden

Nose

A rich maltiness is the primary aroma, soon followed by sweet oak and vanilla, subtle apples and pears and the faintest wisp of Scottish peat smoke.

Taste

Light and approachable mouthfeel, accompanied by apples, pears, vanilla pod and a little sea salt. There’s a glimpse of sherried raisins and plums, and some gentle toasted oak.

Finish

Short and sweet with plenty of brown sugar, cinnamon and malty biscuits. A great introduction to this producer, that would also make for an ideal “daily drinker”.
