It was the first cognac to wear the label XO, "Extra Old". This edition is a continuation of a Hennessy tradition: the Hennessy XO Limited Edition by Marc Newson is another collaboration of the brand with a renowned artist. Here, it is the Australian artist Marc Newson that lent his very own touch to Hennessy XO for only a short time.

The bottle's look is overwhelming. The Hennessy XO decanter is famous for its shape, and Marc Newson is responsible for making it even more irresistible. The glass is coated in streamlined elements, which replace the usual wine grapes and leaves. Newson said: "Hennessy XO is legendary. As a designer, it was important for me to create things that stand the test of time. There's a wonderful fundamental shape to the Hennessy XO bottle. All that's left to do is enhance its conents as much as I possibly could. I wanted to magnify the bottle's contents, its colour and nuances. […] To me, the stripes really emphasize the strength of the decanter's shape. When they catch the light, they highlight both the bottle and the contents, making the whole feel warmer and more tactile. Taken together, all of these design elements are meant to convey the unique, immersive experience of XO."
