Nose :
On the nose, Jack Daniel's Black Label offers gentle aromas of caramel, vanilla, and butterscotch. A hint of wood is apparent and toffee notes begin to appear in the glass as it opens up.
Body and Palate :
Since switching to its 80 proof formula from 86 proof, some claim Jack Daniel's Black Label has lost some of its luster. I disagree but I do think that the 80 proof formulation results in a lighter mouthfeel, which isn't unpleasant, just different.
On the palate, Jack Daniel's has a smooth smoky sweetness. One reviewer has descibed it as having a corn syrup note to it and I agree. Jack Daniels has a reputation for a light licorice note to all of their whiskies and its readily apparent in Black Label. The licorice note isn't overwhelming and lends a nice background note to flavors of vanilla, toasted oak, fresh brewed coffee, nuts and English toffee. What is most interesting about Jack Daniel's Black Label to me is the number of flavors that come into play over the course of drinking it. I challenge you to sit down and think about the flavors appearing on your palate. You'll be surprised at just how much complexity and depth there is hidden under the blanket of vanilla at the front of the palate.
Finish :
Jack Daniel's Black Label offers a quick, sweet finish. Nice oak notes, a hint of spices, and perhaps a touch of cedar mingle with a warm caramel finish that gives way to white pepper and walnuts.

“Great whisky”I became a big fan of JD ever since I have tried it for the first time. Great whisky for every weekend use. It's the only one, that doesn't give you a hangover if you overdose. I personally prefer it with Pepsi, as in opposition to Coke, Pepsi enriches the taste of JD, while Coke mess it up completely. And if you plan to have a lot of it, don't try it with any sugar free drinks (the ones with aspartame), because the taste will become unacceptable.

“Best of jack”It's great. You might question the first two shots but after that you start to love the taste. The woody taste.

“Neat only”Had my first taste of this when I was 23 yrs old I'm now almost 51, & this is still my drink of choice. And always drank the same way "neat", great for sippin and relaxing with.
